The Empire cast on Disney+ Hotstar on August 27, 2021. The Empire is a Disney+ Hotstar special historical fiction streaming television series based on the Alex Rutherford novel series Empire of the Moghul, created by Nikkhil Advani and directed by Mitakshara Kumar.

“The Empire” is Based On the rise and fall of the Mughal Empire. The story starts in Farghana, when Babur, a youthful prince, is crowned king and sets off on a journey to conquer North India.

Originally, Ronit Roy, Dia Mirza, and Shabana Azmi were cast in the starring roles (in September 2018). However, Ronit and Dia departed the series for unclear reasons, and Kunal Kapoor and Drashti Dhami were cast in their place.


In July 2020, Rahul Dev was confirmed as a member of the cast.
